Telecommunications
Infrastructure Construction
AECS provided construction management and environmental compliance support for the installation of telecommunications infrastructure through an environmentally sensitive corridor. The project required careful planning to avoid and minimize impacts to wetlands, streams, and other regulated resources while meeting the client's construction schedule.
Scope of Work
- Pre-construction environmental assessment and permit review
- Coordination with Army Corps of Engineers regarding wetland avoidance requirements
- Development of an Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) for the construction corridor
- Implementation of erosion and sediment controls per NPDES requirements
- Environmental inspection of construction activities during active work
- Oversight of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations at stream and wetland crossings
- Monitoring for inadvertent returns ("frac-outs") during HDD operations
- Post-construction site restoration and re-vegetation of disturbed areas
- Final environmental compliance documentation and permit closeout
Results
The telecommunications infrastructure was successfully installed with no reportable environmental incidents. All required permits were maintained in good standing throughout construction and post-construction restoration was completed to the satisfaction of the permitting agencies. AECS's environmental oversight helped the client avoid costly permit violations and project delays.
